Feature news - Optimize the utilization of your gym space

As CrossFit has become increasingly popular method of exercising, the number of boxes in the city centers has grown significantly. It is happy news for an urban CrossFit enthusiast but causes challenges for the entrepreneurs, who are facing the tough task of finding proper space for their boxes for reasonable price. Needless to say that the rents are significantly higher in the central locations. Of course, it is important to have the classes filled, no matter where your box is located, but the high level of space utilization throughout the weeks and months is essential especially for boxes in central locations simply to keep the business profitable.

WODconnect's gym utilization chart shows how efficiently you are using your gym's capacity. The feature uses the booking system to calculate how many class spots you provide each day, and how many of them have been booked.

utilisation

It's very simple. Your daily capacity is shown in blue, and the red area indicates the number of athletes attending to classes. The green graph tells the daily utilization percentage. The chart illustrates the utilization for one month at a time, and you can browse past months to see how your numbers have developed. By placing your cursor on a specific day you will see an overview of that day's class information, and clicking the day will get you to a page where you see all classes' info separately. Note that the chart doesn't show classes that don't have participant limitation.

Use the chart to optimize your class schedule and use of resources. Remember that there is always an opportunity cost for the time you spend coaching a class with only a handfull of participants. The higher the utilization percentage is, the better you have succeeded to fill your class spots and the better you are using your gym space. Analyze the changes in the utilization, and if you see recurring patterns, for example, the utilization being low on the weekends, try to change the number or time of the classes.
