Reading the comment thread of CrossFit Games Open 19.1. Facebook live announcement:
“BORING”
“Is this the real announcement”
“Where’s Dave”
“Competitive pool is more exciting than this announcement”
Clearly the CrossFit community was a bit shocked by the changes to the Open announcement. And to be honest, the broadcast production of the announcement had a little DIY feel. But who cares? It is still the Open and the concept is still the same for 99,9% of the athletes: have fun with friends and hopefully excell oneself while doing it. The difference for the rest 0,1% is that they get an invitation straight to the Games instead of Regionals.
19.1. is…
15-minute AMRAP:
19 wall-ball shots 20/14lb
19 cal. row
And that’s it.
One might say “boring”, but what they should say is “simple and effective”. The workout is 100% of basic work, which everyone can perform. 15 minutes is relatively long time for a workout, so pacing has a major role in this one. Other than that there’s no need for overthinking and strategizing in this one. Here's the deep analysis for the 19.1: The less you lean on your knees, the better result you'll get. That's it.
