Why WODconnect

Considering how efficient a training method CrossFit is, surprisingly many CrossFitters still don't mark their results, or do it in very old-fashioned ways. It might be fun to carry a notebook with you at the gym, but the problem is, that the information is very tedious to analyse. Some people upgrade to an excel file, which can work, but again, takes quite much time. And in most cases, the information stays hidden from others. It's all right to keep a secret diary but to train efficiently, you shouldn't be the only one keeping an eye on your progress. Your gym's whiteboard may function as an effective scoreboard and some kind of coaching tool, but it doesn't have all the benefits of an actual result tracking system. Let's look at the benefits; the reasons why we have created WODconnect.

To get confidence and guidance

Writing down what you are doing gives you the feeling that you are doing something. That's a good start and keeps you going – at least for a while. Reflecting your current condition to your condition in the past, proves that you are going somewhere. That motivates you even further. Getting and maintaining a comprehensive picture of how far you have come, and most importantly, how you have done it, is what matters the most. Because this way, you will know how to continue.

Maintaining an efficient training program isn't easy. You can, and should, let your coach as a professional take care about the programming. However, after all, it's you who is responsible for your progress and level of satisfaction. Ask yourself: have I done my best to achieve my goal? To perform well and avoid mistakes, you need to know yourself as an athlete and tracking results will do miracles. Logging results will help you to make the most out of the training program you follow.

Here are some basic reasons why tracking your workouts makes sense:

  • progress is faster when you know where you are and what your goals are
  • it's easier to stay motivated when you can visualise your progress
  • it helps you find the low hanging fruits
  • you'll stay honest to yourself
  • tracking prevents you from hiding your weaknesses
  • Progress is not easy to see, especially if you're an experienced athlete. Tracking workouts enables you to see even the smallest improvement.

To make a big difference with a little effort

Tracking results must be easy and effortless enough. We realize that even if people knew all the benefits of workout tracking, they wouldn't do it if it was too complicated. Our goal is to make the tracking as simple as possible.

Adding results to your journal is fast and easy. If your box is using WODconnect, you can add the workouts to your journal straight from the gym's feed. For all recurring workouts (strength and benchmark workouts) you see informative progress charts, which allow you to see where you're heading, and how fast.

To build community

The results can be posted either as public or private, that's your call, but we recommend you to consider posting the results publicly in the gym feed. Here are a couple of reasons why:

Commenting and discussing are in the heart of WODconnect. You can comment or cheer the results and notified if someone replies to you or cheers you back. Again, this gives a huge motivation boost.

We have seen that gyms using their feeds actively are gyms with great community and team spirit. Taking the communication also outside the gym makes the community stronger, and gives members a possibility to communicate with others who don't visit the gym at same times.

To support coaching

Coaches can see a comprehensive picture of their athletes' training levels in the gym feed, but also at an individual level. Coaches have the right to access your journal and see the information about your workouts, activity, and progress. Coaches are able to approach you as an athlete more individually because WODconnect helps them to understand your current strength level, training load, weaknesses, and goals.

With WODconnect coaching can also continue outside the gym. During peak hours coaches might not have time to give feedback on every performance at the gym, but they can comment and continue the discussion on WODconnect later.

These are just a few main reasons, leaving out all the other practical features that will make your life easier – class and seminar booking, bill handling, etc.

So that's why.
