The Meridian Regionals were held last weekend for the second time in Madrid and what an awesome event it was once again. The competition showed clearly also around the city - local boxes were full of tourists and where ever you went, you saw someone wearing Rogue or Reebok.
The competition itself couldn’t have been better promotion for CrossFit. The story was built event by event and moment by moment until the very end. The winners of every division obviously deserve their credit but the climax of the whole weekend was undoubtedly the announcement of the last CrossFit Games spot in the men’s individual division.
Frederik Aegidius and Lukas Högberg were only separated by two points even though Högberg showed an incredible fight in the last event. Aegidius already thought he had lost his chance by finishing seventh in the last event. However, Högberg’s performance wasn’t enough as he was left fourth in the event, only two seconds and two points from Games ticket. Aegidius will attend the Games first time since 2013.
